Sustainability and recycling – Rethink

Reading time: 2 minutes

Bart and Robin from Rethink are visiting Reobijn B.V. to see what we are doing about the EU requirement that half of plastic products should be made from recycled material by 2030. We are doing a lot already, as the tour shows; the routers, parts for solar panels, regulators for ventilation, and feet for solar panels (production of 1 million per year!!) already comply. Unfortunately, the disadvantage of adding recycled material is still mainly the color, says Account Manager ✔️Roel Moors. Legislation (for food safety) or customer requirements impose restrictions.

The customer is king (and the consumer decides…), but Reobijn tries to persuade them to make a sustainable choice through consultation.

At the moment, almost 20% of Reobijn’s products are made from recycled material. To get to 50% by 2030, collaboration with customers and with the chain is necessary. Innovations such as chemical recycling will also contribute significantly.

They also talk to ✔️Chris Visschedijk, project manager new construction, because Reobijn is building a new factory for large machines to make large products. This production generally requires more energy, which is why we make our choices as energy-efficient as possible. On the roof are 1,500 solar panels that account for 30% of the energy used.
